So yesterday I signed up for a free twitter account. I had played with this briefly early last year but decided I'd try it again. So far I'm following Marc Warner our senator and some actor from CA is now following me. This is strange and I'm not sure I like it. I don't know him and I'm not sure why he would choose to follow me.
I have also signed up for Diigo, it's cool to have this as part of my Firefox bookmark bar, so if I go to an article I wish to bookmark and is relevant to education I can also click the Diigo symbol and it will be saved there as well. I'm interested if anyone else has tried twitter or Diigo?

So, I have heard all this buzz about twitter, but never investigated. I just watched their tutorial video and am a bit unsure. It seems a bit stalkerish, but fun at the same time. Again, having not really looked into it much, I don't see many implications for instruction. I am open though. Diigo seems pretty cool too, but I hate to read, so don't think I would use it.
ReplyDeleteI had fun looking at your new tools.
Look at Cathy already becoming a figure of fame and glory in the tech world! Congrats on your stalker!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what are you looking to do with your twitter? Sounds you have at least ventured out to try some new features online, and I look forward to hearing more about your findings and observations. Thanks for the Diigo tips!
Can the Twitter stalker find your Wiki? It does have personal info. Foster had a very good point about finding students through your blogs and/or Wikis. Be careful out there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Brian, I don't see any educational value in using twitter. Do people really want to know every move that you are making each day? I find it silly when I go onto face book and see a friend who had just gone to the dentist or is going to the dentist. Who cares? My personal thought on twitter is that it is just an addictive waste of time!
ReplyDeleteWell the stalker has disappeared, I guess he got bored I have a dull life. But it's fascinating to follow Marc Warner, and what he is doing on Capitol Hill. Can't wait for the hit up for funding of his campaign, I'm sure that should be arriving in the mail anyday now.
